Starting my blog... Makar Sankranti and National Army Day
Why?
I mean why did I created my blog and all? Let’s start…
First of all Shubh Makara Sankranti(North Indians call it Makar Sankranti, a slight difference in pronunciation). Luckily I got holidays today and yesterday so I thought why not to create a blog, I have been writing blogs since class 9th and that was mainly focused on gaming, but this time I’ll be writing on various topics. Actually I lost touch with writing, so this is also an attempt to sharp my writing skills.
What shall I write?
My main intention is to cover topics on programming, tech, gaming, economics, various philosophies and social topics(I’ll try to be rational). Also I’ll be covering insights on my projects and all. Should I also write in Hinglish? Umm may be, let’s see.
National Army Day
Today is the National Army Day, it has been celebrated on 15 th of January every year since 1949 to commemorate the day when Lieutenant General K.M. Cariappa tool over as the first Commander-in-Cheif of the Indian Army from general Fransis Bucher. It is celebrated to honour the soldiers of our country who have sacrificed their lives or time for the country. This year 2024 the theme for Indian Army day 2024 is “In Service of the Nation”.
Makara Sankranti
I am from Odisha(a state in Bharat) and here we celebrate Makara Sankranti today. Today the Punjabi people celebrate Maghi(a day before Lohri), the Assamese celebrate Maghi Bihu and the Tamils celebrate Pongal. There are many traditions associated with it.
Astronomical significance
It is the day when the Sun enters into Makara Rashi(Capricorn) on it’s celestial path and today begins the six month Uttarayana period, i.e the sun starts moving northwards. It is also the day when the duration of day and night are equal.
How do we celebrate it?
